Q: My SCSI CD-ROM / Hard Drive does not work with your program.

A: EZ OS INSTALL PRO is designed currently for IDE only. We are in the process of creating the program with SCSI support.

Q: My CD-ROM drive is not detected.

A: EZ OS INSTALL PRO uses a generic IDE CD-ROM driver to load CD-ROM support. Most drives on the market are supported by this driver. If your CD-ROM is connected to a sound card the driver will not function. Some laptops and PCMCIA CD-ROM drives may require a special driver. If you have a driver that is required for your CD-ROM drive you can install it to an installation boot disk under Advanced – Special.

Q: Every time I try and create a disk the program tells me another application is using the floppy disk.

A: Close down any programs and folders you have opened. Try rebooting your computer.

Q: When trying to create a disk it never reaches 100% because it errors out.

A: Unfortunately floppy disks have the bad habit of not lasting very long in some situations. Try another floppy disk. Perform a format on the floppy disk and try again. Try a different floppy drive.

Q: When I boot to the installation floppy disk I get a message stating that drive C is NTFS and will need to be wiped out before the Operating System installation can continue.

A: When installing any Operating System with automation from a DOS level, files will need to be copied to drive C. NTFS does not allow copying files to the hard drive. EZ OS INSTALL PRO will need to re-create the C partition as a FAT32.

Q: After booting to the installation disk I am prompted with a screen that says the Operating System CD was not detected in the drive.

A: Verify the Operating System CD is in the drive. If you have more than one CD-ROM drive, try inserting the CD in the other drive/s. Verify your CD-ROM is detected, by checking the CD-ROM seek light on your CD-ROM (If your CD-ROM has a seek light) when the CD is trying to be read. EZ OS INSTALL PRO is designed to work with Microsoft Operating System CD’s and will check the CD with a file check function. The file that EZ OS INSTALL PRO is looking for are listed below:

• 98 / 98 SE = Either \WIN98\SETUP.EXE or \WIN98\INSTALL.EXE
• ME = \WIN9X\SETUP.EXE or \WIN9X\INSTALL.EXE
• 2000 Pro/Server/Adv Server = \I386\WINNT.EXE
• XP Home / Pro = \I386\WINNT.EXE

Q: When trying to launch the program I receive the error, “A required .DLL file, MSVBVM60.DLL, was not found.”.

A: EZ OS INSTALL PRO was written using the Microsoft Visual Basic 6 coding language. The Operating System requires Microsoft Visual Basic Runtime Files to be installed before a Visual Basic program can be used. This update can be downloaded from:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/vb60pro/Redist/sp5/WIN98Me/EN-US/vbrun60sp5.exe

Q: When installing Windows 98 or ME the installation pauses at the EULA (End User’s License Agreement).

A: Unfortunately when Microsoft did not design the Windows 98 or ME Operating Systems with the ability to be 100% automated during the installation. This was done on any NT based Operating System. We have researched this problem on our own and with Microsoft and have found no solution to fully automate the installation of 98 and ME 100%. All the answers will be filled in for you. With the click of a couple of [NEXT] buttons and one [FINISH] button the installation will complete on its own.

Q: I would like to save my EZ OS INSTALL profile, but will be wiping out the hard drive I used with the program to create my installation disk. Where can I save the profile too?

A: Save it to the installation floppy disk after it has been created. The floppy disk should contain enough extra space to be a good placeholder for you’re save profile/s.

Q: In the advanced section of EZ OS INSTALL PRO, what is the “Multiple system setup option” for?

A: If you will be using the installation disk on more than one computer and these computers are networked, this option is recommended. Computers on a network require a unique computer name. This option will rename the computer name in incremental order every time the disk is used to install an operating system. For example the first time you use the disk the computer name might be MYSYSTEM1. The disk will alter itself so the next time an installation is performed the computer name will be MYSTEM2. This way the computer will not conflict on the network.

Q: Why doesn’t the option “Load From Current Install” under the advanced section of EZ OS INSTALL PRO fill in all the blanks for me?

A: The settings are pulled from your registry. If the setting is blank or not found a blank will not be filled in. For example the COA # can be filled in from a Windows 98 system, but the COA # will not on a Windows XP system. Windows XP protects the COA # information and does not store it in the registry.

Q: When I try to boot to the disk I receive the warning screen that says press “C” to continue, the system reboots, and does the same thing in a loop?

A: If the disk has the write protection enabled this symptom can occur. Verify that the write protection tab on the floppy disk is not enabled (Make sure the movable tab is covering the hole).

Q: When I click the create disk button it says a floppy disk was not detected in the drive, but I have inserted a floppy disk?

A: If another application or the operating system is using disk drive this error can occur. The program is coded to write to the A drive. If your floppy drive is not specified as drive letter A this error can occur. If you have more than one floppy drive, try inserting the disk in the other drive.

Q: When I boot to the EZ OS INSTALL PRO floppy disk, it keeps rebooting the system and boots back into the disk.

Q: Depending on the options you chose this could be normal. For example if you chose to wipe the hard drive and create a new C partition the diskette will reboot your computer three times. First reboot after wiping the hard drive, second reboot after creating a partition, and the third reboot after formatting the partition.
